HK's Restaurant

today i go to HK's for lunch. business that's been there probably before my college days. amongst all the other yummy plate lunches and burgers w/crinkly fries (one of the few places that have them) they serve, i always get their fried 'ahi. it's a no fail plate lunch. 2 thin sliced pieces of "FRESH" 'ahi, battered in egg and fried to perfection! the fish is still on the softer side, never over done and the egg batter is not heavy, very light. served with a ginger shoyu dipping sauce. always sooo satisfied after eating there. even my 3 and 4 year old kids can share and eat the entire plate! cheers!

JJ Dolans

after living in the mainland for 7 years, i was dying to come across a place in hawaii that made "good", thin crust pizza, kinda like new york style. i've heard many good things about jj dolans in downtown honolulu. to my surprise, they do have GREAT pizza! this place is usually slammed at night and on the weekends. i got there as soon as they opened so no crowd and very attentive servers. i ordered a harp on tap, which was sooo tasty as we were walking around town and a little hot. we then ordered pepperoni pizza by the slice ($3.00) and a spinach, pepperoni, garlic, cheese white (no red sauce) pizza pie ($14.00). note: they only serve pepperoni and cheese pizza by the slice, everything else is by the pie. the pizza is cooked perfectly, not too crispy and not too doughy. Just enough cheese and sauce. still has the crunch and left overs can still be heated in the oven and not be overdone. the pepperoni could've used some paper towel dabbing. i ate 3 big ass slices of pizza! this place blows away them other pizza parlors! cheers!

Alan Wong's Restaurant

so my husband took me there this past tuesday for my birthday. it's the 2nd time i've been there. never disappointed! we started of with a bottle of wine, 'ahi and avocado stack and big island abalone. then for dinner we had the ginger crusted onaga. for dessert we had the banana split and they gave me a complimentary strawberry shortcake with ice cream. everything was to die for. since i'm just starting to blog i only took a couple of pictures. i'll do better next time. as a lot of you know, alan wong's is one of the best restaurants on o'ahu. cheers!
